Sounds like it should be possible to make an adapter of some sort that surrounds/backs the monitor out of plywood/MDF? It may be depend heavily on the exact shape of the monitor and the mounting mechanism of the cab.

May be somehow (it's hard to understand how is made there) but you can make some additional frame that will compensate the difference between those monitors. It's hard to suggest how it really can be done, only when you'll have all that components in your hands, but I think may be it can be done on 3D-printer, when you'll see how it's build to specifically fit it to your monitor.

I might get lucky here too... my brother has a spare monitor that MIGHT be 27"... so IDK.

EDIT: He's confirmed with me that it's actually 24", but it's response time is super low, so it might be good for DIVA...

By the way, I'm planning to build arcade cabinet too, but I bought 22" sensitive display Dell s2240tb (that was in horrible condition and I was shocked how that guy, that sold it to me treated to it, but I amazed about this monitor that it pretty strong that it survived after all of this and I washed it off the dirt and I amazed that sensitive panel has literally not a single scratch and finally looks pretty good) especially for project diva arcade :)
Now I'm trying to build PC for it, especially that fucking miners problems with videocards, but I think 650it of 750ti will be not so hard to buy, but I'm trying to find everything as cheap as possible :D

    AFT Cabinet assembly so far:

I decided to install the speakers first cuz it'd be a pain in the ass later based on how my particular cabinet assembles.

HAHAHAHA I'm in process of cleaning up in here to accommodate the cab build and happened to be in the shot. Good eye! hahah. Also I'm not sure if it's actually a 1998 model, since they bundled those with many Macs (iMacs primarily) after that, but yeah. xD

I have 2004 apple keyboard from G4, but I do not like how there buttons pressed, so I have it like some rarity and for some testing when I need it :)

You made a right choice :)

Are you saying that I made the right choice installing the speakers now before assembling anything else?

I got confirmation from the MAME Arcade Cabinet Builders FaceBook group from someone that's built my exact cab albeit it being the full size, and mine's the 3/4 size and he says that the mounting mechanism is universal basically. You place the display you wanna use flat (from my understanding) and then screw in the mounting plank piece into the VESA mount holes in the monitor.

So here's a small update: I decided to order and go pick up a 27" display for the cab cuz it'd be easier and it'd look better than a 24" with filler material around it to make it fit better. $220 later.. Ugh... w/e it'll be worth it in the end. And now it's time to actually sleep so I can get the aforementioned 27" before the store (called MicroCenter) closes (they're only open from 12noon-5pm US Eastern on Sunday and it's currently 4AM. lol).

    Here is my monitor :)
It's very good thing that it uses 12v for powering, so there is no need in different PSU for it and it can be powered directly from 12V from PC.
Also working touchscreen, didn't test it with project diva, but i'm sure that there will be no problems at all.
Bought it in Kyiv for ~160 U$D and that's amazing price, because as I said before, i thought it has much worth shape. Sometimes, very rarely, it has some false touches on screen, I didn't find yet what causes that, but, again, it will not be problem in Project DIVA.
