SONY had just announced plans to shut down the PS3 and PS Vita PlayStation stores starting in August 2026 in Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua. With PlayStation Store services winding down come July 2027 everywhere else (just a month out from the 20th anniversary of Hatsune Miku in general)

This generally means that you will no longer be able to purchase games, DLC, and so on digitally, legitimately on the actual hardware. (Not that it matters anyways with the nature of these devices’ post-shelf life) With Redownloading titles, PS3 & PS Vita Cross-Save and Cross Buy, that will still be available (again, post-shelf life)

    Look here for more details:https://blog.playstation.com/2026/07/01/an-update-on-playstation-store-for-ps3-and-ps-vita/

Titles (DLC included) that will no longer be available for purchase:

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F on both PS3 and PS Vita
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F2nd, on both PS3 & PS Vita
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X on PS Vita

In Japan; this also applies to:

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA: Dreamy Theater on PS3
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA: Dreamy Theater 2nd on PS3
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA: Dreamy Theater Extend on PS3

Yes, most of this was already reheated from the last time SONY announced they’d be pulling the plug in 2021, though they relented back then, only pulling the plug on PSP’s PS Store services. This was also slipped in as SONY announced the discontinuation of general Physical Game production for PS5 starting in 2028. Which combined with price hikes for consoles with the PlayStation 5 Pro now at $899.99, & Grand Theft Auto VI’s $79.99 code-in-a-box release justifiably has people concerned about gaming in general.

unless your Nintendo; resting on your laurels with the Nintendo Switch 2 at $499.99, the transparently marked Game-Key Cards, & Mario Kart World with everything on the Game Card for the same price.
