Need Help Saving Picture Quality

What I'm having trouble with this time is when I'm saving images I'm editing/customizing that are only partly transparent with GIMP. The image I'm editing first is the menu_result for the PD2nd# on the PSP. And as you can see from the thumbnails, the first is the one I'm using that's from extend. The second pic having it the way I want it, but the third pic (being the result) shows everything messed up after saving it. And I just don't know how to fix that, for it to stay the way we see it on the GIMP (the second pic) when we save it. Thank you for your help :)
