A recent development in MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) has been made. This time it pertains to the preservation of Jammin’: which had it been released in 1985, would had been the first ever Arcade video music/rhythm game.

This was largely thanks to the work of Dutchman2000 from the Arcade-Museum forum: who has uncovered a VMS/VAX Back-up tape of old Atari Games data. Alongside SynaMax, and self-described digital archeologist/Emulation developer David “MameHaze” Haywood. All of this was done in the span of a day.

Jammin’ will be playable in MAME 0.284 by the end of the year.

No; I’m not going to explain setting MAME up, or how to find the game’s ROM file; you are on your own at your own risk.
